YMCA BLACK ACHIEVERS

Mission/Purposes: This program is designed to help young African Americans to develop a positive sense of self and to set high education and career goals.

Programs/Activities:

·   Youth are motivated to succeed in school and gain marketable skills.

·   Adults are recognized by their peers as achievers and are given the opportunity to serve as role models for youth.

·   Companies are provided with a way to support urban youth, which enhances their corporate image and helps build a future workforce of competent, motivated young adults.

Participants: There are two types of YMCA Black Achievers programs: Youth Achievers (for ages 6 to 12) and Teen Achievers. 

Getting Involved: Contact your local YMCA and see how you can get involved in the Black Achievers (also called the Minority Achievers in some locations).
