ROBERT F. KENNEDY CHILDREN'S ACTION CORPS
Mission/Purpose: The Children’s Action Corps seeks to improve the lives of children and families and to make a lasting contribution to society. Programs/Activities: Youth Leadership Program for Girls (YLPG) is a two-year after-school leadership development program. The program is designed to empower girls to become productive, knowledgeable and responsible members of their communities. YLPG supports the needs of its group members through various workshops and trainings, including leadership development, media literacy, social justice and civic engagement combined with a volunteerism and community service component. Participants: Female students ages 14-17 enrolled in high school or a GED equivalent program who live in Boston or its surrounding communities. Getting Involved: The program runs from September through June and meets weekly after school. All girls receive a biweekly stipend for their commitment and service.
