PARTNERS FOR YOUTH WITH DISABILITIES

Mission/Purpose: Partners for Youth with Disabilities seeks to empower young people with disabilities to reach their full potential for personal development.

Programs/Activities:

Peer Leaders participate in training sessions that feature team-building activities, skill development and panel discussions on topics such as leadership, conflict resolution, effective communication, advocacy, disability awareness and independent living. All Peer Leaders learn the value of community service and contribute a significant amount of time to PYD programs and outside projects that will have a meaningful impact on the community.

Youth Leadership Forum, sponsored by the Governor’s Commission on the Employment of People with Disabilities and Partners for Youth with Disabilities, offers PYD participants the opportunity to attend the Forum along with young adults from across the state who are leaders in their communities and are interested in developing their leadership skills and learning from one another.

Participants: Individuals ages 16-24.

Getting Involved: PYD has branches in Boston, Lawrence and Springfield. Contact Partners for Youth with Disabilities for more information about all programs.
