NATIONAL PROGRAMS
The following section of
this Directory lists national programs that are available to young people in
Massachusetts.
Some of these programs
invite young people to participate as individuals while others encourage
youth groups and other youth programs to participate as part of a group
activity.
Amigos de las
Américas (AMIGOS) is an international, non-profit organization that provides
unparalleled leadership and community service opportunities for young people
while concurrently contributing to the well-being of hundreds of communities
throughout the Americas.
The
Close Up Foundation’s civic education programs and
materials empower people to become informed, engaged citizens in our
democracy.
Congressional Youth Leadership Council
The Congressional Youth
Leadership Council seeks to inspire young people to achieve their full
leadership potential.
LeadAmerica’s mission is to transform our world’s next
generation of young leaders by inspiring, educating and instilling in them
ethical and principled leadership values, attitudes and skills.
National Student Leadership Conference
The National Student
Leadership Conference is one of the premier providers of career-focused
leadership conferences. Tens of thousands of high school students from
across the globe have come to the NSLC for an unparalleled opportunity to
meet with and learn from world leaders, academic experts and, just as
importantly, each other. Each program helps students develop their own
leadership potential while exploring some of today's most exciting
professions.
National Teen Leadership Program Cultivating and inspiring teens to become civic leaders is of lasting benefit to the entire community. The National Teen Leadership Program (NTLP) encourages students to understand that it is within their power to help those in need and to show peers how they can contribute.
NLCR Annual Conference and Lideres Summit The Líderes Summit is a conference of the Líderes Initiative, a national program designed to increase the number, capacity, and influence of young Latino leaders in the United States. The mission of the PeaceJam Foundation is to create a new generation of young leaders committed to positive change in themselves, their communities and the world through the inspiration of Nobel Peace Laureates.
The Points of
Light Youth Leadership Institute
Our mission is
to provide youth with the encouragement, peer networks and leadership skills
necessary for them to make meaningful contributions to their communities and
begin a life-long journey of leadership and service.
Presidential Classroom
prepares young leaders for responsible citizenship and provides outstanding
high school students the chance to explore the political process firsthand.
Washington Workshops Foundation
The Washington Workshops
Foundation is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan educational foundation
dedicated to getting young people involved in the political process. This program is designed to help young African Americans to develop a positive sense of self and to set high education and career goals. The Youth Activism Project is a non-partisan organization formed to encourage young people to speak up and pursue lasting solutions to problems they care deeply about.
Youth Venture’s mission is to build a global movement
of young people being powerful now, change makers now.
The foundation inspires and invests in teams of young people to design and
launch their own lasting social ventures, enabling them to have this
transformative experience of leading positive social change.
