American Legion Auxiliary
Girls State
Girls State educates youth
about the basic ideals and principles of government to help ensure the
survival of democracy.
Boys State provides youth
with training in practical citizenship and the operation of government.
America’s Legislators Back to School
Program
Sponsored by the National
Conference of State Legislatures, the America’s Legislators Back to School
Program is designed to teach young people what it’s like to be a state
legislator: the processes, the pressures, and the debate, negotiation and
compromise that are the fabric of representative democracy.
The ASPIRE Youth Leadership
Program (YLP) is a year-long leadership program specifically tailored to the
cultural and developmental needs of Asian American high school girls in the
greater Boston area.
Boston Alliance of Gay, Lesbian
and Transgendered Youth
The Boston Alliance of Gay,
Lesbian and Transgendered Youth is a youth-led, adult-supported organization
that creates, sustains, and advocates for programs, policies and services

City Year is a nonpartisan
organization dedicated to helping to build a strong democracy through three

leadership and social entrepreneurship, which serve as the civic foundation
for a strong, active and responsive democracy.
Coalition for Asian
Pacific American Youth
CAPAY aims to
improve race relations, support youth-led activism in schools and
communities, and provide leadership training to Asian Pacific American (APA)

Election
The National Student/Parent
Mock Election makes students and parents aware of the power of their ballot
by actively involving them in a full-fledged campaign and national election.
The National Student/Parent Mock Election is a nonprofit, nonpartisan
organization.
¿Oíste’s? mission is to
promote the principles and practice of democracy and to advance the
political, social and economic standing of Latinos and Latinas in the state.
The organization seeks to reach these goals by impacting public policy
through public education, civic and issue trainings, electoral reform and

The Youth
Leadership Institute (YLI) at Project Adventure promotes the empowerment of

provides opportunities for youth to explore their value, encourage their
discoveries, build their skills, and create supportive relationships.
Through the study of hip hop culture and the history of social movements,
Project HIP-HOP engages young people in a process of critically analyzing
the past and present so they can take action to make a better future.

The Children’s Action Corps

initiative to build social capital and civic engagement in Dorchester,

House Summer Junior Volunteer Tour Guide Program
The
Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth and the State House Tours
Division sponsor the Summer Junior Volunteer Tour Guide Program to encourage
young people to learn about Massachusetts history and government and welcome
visitors to Massachusetts as a State House tour guide.
We the People: Project Citizen
We the People:
ProjectCitizen is a curricular
program for middle, secondary, and post-secondary students, youth
organizations, and adult groups that promotes competent and
responsible participation in local and state government. The program
helps participants learn how to monitor and influence public policy. In the
process, they develop support for democratic values and principles,
tolerance, and feelings of political efficacy.
The Worcester Youth Center
provides a place where young people can build lasting, positive change in
their lives. It accomplishes this mission by seeking resources,
collaborations and opportunities that help young people to realize their
full potential, sharpen skills, and enable them to become vital, responsible
and contributing members of society. It supports activities for social
justice and contributes efforts to create change in the community, which
will benefit everyone.
Young
Sisters for Justice in Philanthropy
YSFJP aims to
build awareness of social change, work, and philanthropy among young people;
cultivate new and younger donors; and create a youth-led organizing effort.
Youth on Board
helps young people and adults think differently about each other
so that they can work together to change society.
Youth on Board envisions a world where young people are fully
respected and treated as valued and active members of their families,
