CLOSE UP FOUNDATION

 

Mission/Purpose: The Close Up Foundation’s civic education programs and materials empower people to become informed, engaged citizens in our democracy.

Programs/Activities: Close Up’s high school and middle school programs offer seminars, study visits and exciting hands-on learning activities that cover the legislative process, the judiciary, defense, international relations, the media, current domestic and international issues and more. The middle school program focuses on U.S. history.

        Close Up Washington, D.C. is one of several programs that bring civic lessons to life by taking students behind the scenes and allowing them to witness their government in action. Go to www.closeup.org/washtrav.htm for information on this and other programs.

        Program for New Americans gives recently immigrated middle school and high school students the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to become informed and active citizens in the United States.

Participants: Middle school and high school students.

Fees: Program prices range from $994 to $1,589 for high school programs and $919 to $1,059 for middle school programs. A limited amount of tuition assistance is available through the Close Up Fellowship Program.
