10th Annual Online Student Essay Contest Making Democracy Work: Democracy and Change: The Newly-elected President   Contest Prizes   Print Friendly Version Here   For Grades 4-12: U.S. Savings Bonds will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners in each grade grouping -- grades 4-5, grades 6-8, and grades 9-12. 1st place - $500 U.S. Savings Bond 2nd place - $200 U.S. Savings Bond 3rd place- $100 U.S. Savings Bond For 18-24 year olds: One prize for the best essay - $1,000 For Teachers, Advisors, or Leaders of students in grades 4-12: Classroom Educational Grant will be awarded to the teacher, advisor, or leader who encouraged and assisted the participation of the winners in grades 4-12. The grant will be awarded at the ceremony at Faneuil Hall. The grant will be shared if more than one teacher or advisor assisted the student. 1st place- $300 2nd place- $200 3rd place- $100 *Honorable Mention winners will receive certificates and are recognized during the Faneuil Hall Ceremony.   Return to main contest page
