ELECTION LAWS
COMMITTEE CHAIRMEN SAY MAJOR PLAN COMING
As they unveiled a constitutional amendment allowing everyone to cast an
absentee ballot, Sen. Edward Augustus (D-Worcester) and Rep. Anthony
Petruccelli (D-East Boston) told the League of Women Voters to expect a major
election-procedure reform proposal to emerge from their committee as well.
Among its possible provisions: registration on Election Day, and a law
requiring employers to grant time off from work for the purpose of voting.
